Woman killed in multiple-vehicle collision
ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring said their paramedics, along with other services, arrived at the scene at 12.51pm to find that at least five light motor vehicles had collided.
A woman was killed and two other people injured in a collision on the N1 northbound between 14th Avenue and Beyers Naudé Drive in Weltevreden Park on Friday, 16 October.
ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring said their paramedics, along with other services, arrived at the scene at 12.51pm to find that at least five light motor vehicles had collided.
“One vehicle was found in a ditch on the side of the road, while several others were found scattered across the highway,” he said.
“On closer inspection, medics found the body of a woman lying on the road a few metres from her vehicle. Assessments showed that the woman had sustained numerous injuries and showed no signs of life. Nothing more could be done for her, and she was declared dead,” Meiring confirmed.
He added that two other patients were tended to on scene. “A man was found with several injuries and in a critical condition, while another woman had sustained moderate injuries. The two patients were treated for their injuries – the critically injured man received advanced life support interventions – before they were transported to nearby hospitals for further care,” he concluded.
