Harveys heroes show up at first-ever charity event
With the funds raised at the event, the Foundation is planning to assist animal shelters such as Paws R Us (SA) and The Dogs Trust.
Sunday, 25 October saw the Harveys Beacon of Light Foundation host their first-ever charity event. It was attended by close to 200 Harveys heroes, families, athletes and furry friends who showed up in support of the Foundation and in memory of the beloved French bulldog.
The event was held at Bidon Bistro in Muldersdrift where dog walkers were allowed to walk only between 6.30am up until 8am, while it was still cool for the furry friends.

Upon arrival at the registration desk, dog walkers were gifted with a portable water bowl and complimentary dog treats to take with them on their walk, while late-comers were not allowed to walk with their dogs due to the heat.
According to Harveys ‘pawrents’, Dimitri and Roxy Athanasopoulos, the event was organised to raise funds to build the Foundation so that they can assist furry babies across Johannesburg in particular, and in the rest of South Africa.
The event was also aimed at assisting other animal shelters with things they need.
“I could not believe the love, hope, selflessness and encouragement from the entire community and complete strangers who showed us support on the day.
“All of us at Harveys Beacon of Light Foundation are so committed to helping these shelters; we want to fulfil their wish lists and continue organising charity events of this nature,” said Roxy.
With the funds raised at the event, the Foundation is planning to assist animal shelters such as Paws R Us (SA) and The Dogs Trust.

The Foundation revealed to the Northsider that they are planning another event before the end of the year or early in 2021 to further promote animal well-being. They are a non-profit organisation in honour of the French bulldog Harvey who was found dead after he went missing in the Northcliff area in July.
Since the devastating turn of events, his ‘pawrents’, Dimitri and Roxy started the Foundation in honour of Harvey with the mission to make sure that furry family members are safe.
