Pedestrian killed on Hendrik Potgieter Road
ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene at 6am to find one light motor vehicle in the road while another was found on its roof on the side of the road.
A male pedestrian in his 30s was killed this morning, Thursday, 29 October when he was struck by a light motor vehicle at the Handicap and Hendrik Potgieter Roads intersection in Ruimsig.
According to ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring, the ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene at 6am to find one light motor vehicle in the road while another was found on its roof on the side of the road.
“A man was found lying next to the overturned vehicle. Medics assessed the man and found that he had sustained numerous injuries and showed no signs of life. Nothing could be done for him, and he was declared dead,” he said.
“The driver of the overturned vehicle was assessed and found to have sustained minor injuries. The man declined treatment and went to a nearby hospital privately. Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations,” he concluded.
