Local business and charity partner for a sustainable veggie garden for all
A continuous challenge is the lack of fertile soil and garden space for a vegetable garden to feed needy communities.
Sustainable production over consumption of finite resources is at the core of a joint community and charity initiative. Dorcas Aid and Genuine Grow Gardens teamed up for a food garden project to provide nutritious vegetable gardens for everyone, no matter what the space availability is.
Genuine Grow Gardens is an urban farming pioneer that aims not only to teach individuals to garden but to establish community gardens serving as hubs for multiple beneficiaries. Working together, they can restore a sense of community-mindedness and self-esteem as well as providing gardens to feed hungry mouths with fresh, nutritious vegetables.
A continuous challenge is the lack of fertile soil and garden space for a vegetable garden to feed needy communities. The solution was for Genuine Grow Gardens to design, develop and build an affordable, practical modular raised-bed container garden that can turn even hard concrete ground and infertile soil into a vibrant garden to grow your own fresh, healthy and nutritious vegetables.
“This is a game-changer,” said Lionel Cohen, Dorcas Aid charity director and community garden expert. “This gardening method and Genuine Grow Gardens modular raised bed garden and grow bag systems are now able to be positioned, filled and planted in any available space no matter how big or small. The proof is in the pudding, and it only takes a visit to the Genuine Grow Gardens urban farm to see how effective this method can be.”
Wendy Blignaut, the community garden facilitator for Genuine Grow Gardens, said, “What better way to spend a fun day in the sun, supporting a worthy charity or team building with your staff by planting a vegetable garden for a worthy local community cause. With this revolutionary raised bed garden method, together with our individual and corporate sponsors, we provide, educate, fit and plant a vegetable garden solution for every community. Grow your own, it’s the right thing to do.”
