Driver of white Volkswagen Golf GTI seriously injured in Sonop Street accident
The driver of the Golf sustained serious injuries and was transported by paramedics for further treatment.
Tinkering with and testing automobiles can be a dream job for any car enthusiast but the role is not without inherent responsibility.
A white Volkswagen Golf GTI, Toyota Yaris and minibus taxi were involved in a high-speed collision on Friday afternoon, 22 January. Reports from the scene indicate that the driver of the Golf was a mechanic test-driving the vehicle when he lost control of the sporty hatchback, leaping the centre median into oncoming traffic.
The Golf then struck the taxi with the Yaris being caught up in the ensuing chaos, with all three vehicles resting in Sonop Street coming up the hill towards Horizon View Shopping Centre. The driver of the Golf sustained serious injuries and was transported by paramedics for further treatment. Oil and debris may still be present on the road surface so motorists are urged to approach the scene with caution.
