Vehicles, whether occupied or not, may be suspicious or signify a crime in progress. As part of assisting law enforcement the community should try to remember the make, colour, and the licence plate and write down as much information as possible.
While on routine patrol on Wednesday, September 8 around the Poortview, Amarosa and Ruimsig area DMS Security’s response officers noticed a suspicious vehicle in a secluded area with three occupants loading gas bottles into the vehicle.

The officers approached the vehicle and noticed that the property the vehicle was parked next to was indeed a gas refilling store.
When the three noticed the DMS Security vehicle they attempted to flee the scene but were rounded up after the officers had called for back-up.
The three were arrested and all stolen goods were recovered before the DMS Specialised Intervention Unit was dispatched. It was established that the vehicle had false number plates.
DMS Security located the owner of the business who confirmed that the property belonged to him.

Honeydew Police also arrived on scene and the suspects were handed over to them.
Honeydew Police spokesperson, Captain Balan Muthan confirmed that a case of possession of suspected stolen property was opened at the Honeydew Police Station.
“Three suspects were arrested and appeared in the Roodepoort Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, September 9. The matter is still under investigation as further information is still needed,” said Muthan.
