TKSWR mourns the passing of a learner
“As a school, we are devastated by the passing of Chantelle. This family have been part of our school for many years, and Chantelle was a vibrant and delightful little girl."
It is one of the hardest, saddest, and scariest moments of any teacher’s career when hearing the news that a learner in your classroom has passed away.
Although terrifying and soul-crushing The King’s School West Rand (TKSWR) teachers had to stand in front of their learners and continue to act like teaching them grammar mattered.

On Tuesday, March 15 TKSWR mourned the sad passing of their Grade 5 learner Chantelle Gutura who passed away on Thursday, March 10 after a battle with an illness.
According to Principal Ken Langley, Chantelle started her school career with TKSWR in Grade R in January 2017. Her eldest sister Perpetual Gutura who also started Grade R at the school is now in Grade 12.
“As a school, we are devastated by the passing of Chantelle. This family have been part of our school for many years, and Chantelle was a vibrant and delightful little girl.
“She will be deeply missed by all her teachers, friends and family of the school, and we take comfort in the knowledge that Chantelle has been welcomed in heaven by the Lord Jesus,” said Langley.
Chantelle is survived by her parents, Fortune and Rudo Gutura, her sisters Nicole in Grade 9, and Perpetual in Grade 12.

2 Corinthians 1:3–4
“Praise to the God of All Comfort 3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.”
The school held a memorial service for Chantelle on Wednesday, March 16 where tributes and flowers, letters and messages streamed in from friends and parents
