Helderkruin and Wilro Park areas without water
Councillor Hughes confirmed that the problem continues at the Mimosa Water Tower.
Various residents of the Helderkruin and Wilro Park areas have reported being without water on the morning of Thursday, July 7.
According to a statement released by Ward 85 councillor Zoné Hughes, the Mimosa water tower had run dry due to the effects of load-shedding on the pumps.
“Secondly there is no back-up power at the Helderkruin reservoir, making it unpredictable as to when water will go off. The Electromechanical Department dispatched an electrician to get the pumps up and running again,” she explained.
While water has been restored in some areas when load-shedding ended at around 12:30, other areas remain waterless.

Councillor Hughes confirmed that the problem continues at the Mimosa water tower. Johannesburg Water (JW) subsequently apologised to the affected customers within this tower zone.
According to a statement released by JW at around 14:00, there is a major burst on the inlet supply to the tower.
The tower is currently being drained.
Once the water level has dropped, excavation can commence to expose the damaged pipeline.
Affected areas include parts of:
• Grobler Park
• Helderkruin
• Horizon View
• Princess
• Roodekrans
• Technikon
• Westgate Park
• Wilro Park
• Witpoortjie
There is no estimated time of restoration at this stage.
