Honeydew Equestrian Centre hosts Pony Camp on Women’s Day

A group of young horse riders enjoyed a pony camp on Tuesday, August 9.

This past Women’s Day a group of children got to attend a half-day pony camp at Honeydew Equestrian Centre. They could not wait to get to the Centre and spend time with all the horses stabled there.

Tuesday morning’s activities started at 08:30 when the children got to groom and ride on some of the horses, even test their skills at some mounted tasks, which included mounted archery with safe arrows.

Afterwards they got to make pony treats and even painted a horse’s skeleton on one of the many friendly horses at the Centre. Needless to say, the painting ended in a pampering bath for Cotton Candy – the lovely horse who stood as the canvas – as well as some of the children.

The camp ended at 12:30, with all the children content with a morning well spent.

“It was a fabulous morning loaded with fun and laughter,” said Martinique van der Westhuizen.
