JW infrastructure impacted by Rand Water repairs and maintenance of valve on B7 pipeline

Johannesburg Water will be monitoring the infrastructure impacted and will provide updates on supply to customers.

In a media statement released by Johannesburg Water on Friday, August 19 they wished to inform residents of the Rand Water repairs and maintenance that would take approximately 20 hours to complete, and will affect supply to various Johannesburg Water systems.

Maintenance work is scheduled to take place on Friday, August 26 from 18:00 until 14:00 on Saturday, August 28. Once Rand Water has completed work on the B7 pipeline, it may take time for its infrastructure to recover fully.

“Customers are advised to allow approximately a week after maintenance for systems to fully recover. The reduced supply at Eikenhof pump station will subsequently affect the Commando Road meter, Soweto systems and direct feeds,” explained Puleng Mopeli in the statement.

Johannesburg Water will ensure that reservoirs and towers are filled to capacity to limit the impact on customers during the outage.

The Johannesburg Water systems that will be monitored are Commando Road meter and Rand Water direct feeds:
1. Cornelius Street
2. Weltevreden High pressure
3. Weltevreden High pressure bypass
4. Honeydew reservoir

Areas that may be affected:
1. Cornelius Street: Parts of Weltevreden Park. and Randpark Ridge and Allen’s Nek
2. Weltevreden High pressure and Weltevreden High pressure bypass:
Amarosa, Honeydew Manor, Honeypark, Laserpark, Little Falls, Poortview, Radiokop, Strubensvalley, Ruimsig, Wilgeheuwel, Tres Jolie, Constantia Kloof, Randpark Ridge, Allen’s Nek and Weltevreden Park
3. Honeydew reservoir:
Parts of Zandspruit, Laserpark, Olievenhout, Honeydew and extensions
4. Roodepoort area:
Roodekrans (all ext), Wilro Park (all extensions), Helderkruin (all ext), Constantia Kloof (all ext), Allen’s Nek (all ext), Weltevreden (all extensions), Florida Hills, Florida North, Discovery (all extensions), Selwyn, Florida Township, Horison, Horizon View, Roodepoort North, Florida Park (all extensions), Constantia Park, Honeydew (all extensions), Zandspruit, Laserpark, Sundowner, Boskruin, Eagle Canyon, Honeydew View, Poortview, Ruimsig, Wilgeheuwel, Princess, Grobler Park (all extensions), Little Falls, Harveston, and Honeydew (all extensions).

Johannesburg Water will be monitoring the infrastructure impacted and will provide updates on supply to customers. Customers in higher-lying areas may experience low pressure/ no water during this period. Arrangements will be made for alternate water supply to affected areas. During the outage, customers are requested to use water for critical needs only. Leaks and bursts in affected areas should be reported, which may impact the recovery of the system.
