Lions restore EARTH Centre’s sensory lane

The EARTH Centre is a well-established organisation that specialises in equine-facilitated therapies.

Many of the Wilro Park Lions Club members spent their Sunday morning at the Ruimsig EARTH Centre.

Lions Wilro Park president Johan Els with past president Sandy van Heerden.

Their purpose on August 21 was to help upgrade and revamp the centre’s decorations and sensory lanes.

“Delphine Ferreira convened this project after extensive planning and preparation. We had two Club work days on site, and some members worked on the pieces at home,” Lion Sandy van Heerden elaborated.

The planning began in July, when Sandy and Delphine met Julia Morris, the fundraiser at the EARTH Centre.

The freshly painted decorations turn the Sensory Lane into a magical experience.

This project was a major effort to renovate the Centre and make the NPC’s grounds a joyful and exciting place for children with disabilities. Children visit the EARTH Centre for a variety of horse-related activities, arts and crafts projects, and outdoor therapy sessions.
