Damaged or stolen bin? Here’s how to order a new one

If your bin has been stolen, it is important to report it to your nearest police station.

Pikitup has stockpiled a significant number of bins and residents who need their bins to be replaced must follow a certain process.

If your bin has been stolen, it is important to report it to your nearest police station where you will also receive a case number.

If your bin has been damaged beyond repair, you can order a new one by following these steps:
• Call the Pikitup Call Centre on 087 357 1068.
• Provide the call centre agent with your CoJ rates and taxes account number.
• Be sure to obtain your 10-digit reference number, starting with 800.
• Provide your contact details and physical address.
• Contact the Pikitup Depot in your area to schedule a suitable date for the delivery of your bin.
• Expect the delivery of your new 240L Pikitup branded bin within 10 to 14 working days.

Residents can expect to pay an amount of R385 if they are placing an order for a stolen bin. This is a penalty fee that is charged to residents who replace a stolen bin in less than eight years – which is the life span of a Pikitup bin.

Should one place an order for the replacement of a bin that’s eight years or older, the resident will not be charged the penalty fee and will receive a new bin free of charge.

If a resident would like to place an order for the replacement of a damaged bin, the resident is not liable to pay any fee. The bin will be replaced for free by Pikitup.

Pikitup appeals to residents to place their bins inside their properties immediately after they have been emptied to prevent their bins being stolen.
