Cape Minstrels (Kaapse Klopse) to bring communities together
The Saeed Foundation is looking for vibrant, energetic males and females to participate in their upcoming Cape Minstrels (Kaapse Klopse) parade on Heritage Day, September 24 in Johannesburg.

The Saeed Foundation NPO166068, based at the Danie van Zyl Recreation Centre has been serving the communities of Westbury, Newclare, Coronation and surrounding areas of Roodepoort.
According to Saeed Abrahams, chairman and founder of The Saeed Foundation, they are looking for vibrant, energetic males and females to participate in their upcoming Cape Minstrels (Kaapse Klopse) parade on Heritage Day, September 24 in Johannesburg.
Abrahams believes that the initiative will bring various communities with different cultures together.
“There will be auditions and we will provide all uniforms and instruments. All ages are welcome and there are no entry fees.
“The Kaapse Klopse is a cultural tradition of Cape Town, taking place just after New Year’s Day. During this festival Cape Coloured Minstrels parade up and down the streets in a frenzy of brass instruments and dancing,” said Abrahams.
To many, the parade is very scenic and interesting, and Abrahams who himself is an expert, thought it would be a great idea to introduce the minstrels locally.
Members of the community who are interested in participating in their upcoming Cape Minstrels (Kaapse Klopse) parade on Heritage Day are advised to contact Saeed Abrahamson 072 186 4429.
