Azraa and Waven are ready to conquer MKR SA
"We've been MKR fans since watching MKR Australia and always said we'd enter if it came to South Africa, and we did!"
In an episode of the most recent season of My Kitchen Rules South Africa on M-Net, you might have recognised a fun-loving couple. Azraa and Waven Harper were selected to participate in the popular cooking competition this year, and they plan to take first place!

Azraa and Waven married in 2013 when Azraa was 19 and Waven was 21. The couple will be celebrating their 10th wedding anniversary next year.
“We met in high school and had our first son shortly after matriculating, followed by our second son two years later. We’ve always been ambitious and knew what we wanted since we were kids. Waven works as a personal trainer at a gym in Little Falls, and I run an online cake shop from home,” elaborated Azraa.
“Our family did not believe us at first; they thought it was a prank until we showed them actual proof that we were contestants on the brand-new season of MKR SA. They were overcome with emotion and proud of us; we are extremely grateful to have such a supportive family structure,” said Azraa.
The couple has always been passionate about food, having both grown up in homes where food was the focal point of every family gathering. They both studied hospitality in high school and enjoyed cooking together. They used to go home after school and cook meals together, which they still do.
Azraa added, “My ultimate passion is baking, and we hope to open an artisan bakery/ café one day where people can enjoy fresh quality cakes and pastries”.
Azraa has spent her entire life in Johannesburg. Waven was born in Port Elizabeth, raised in KZN until the age of 10, and then relocated to Johannesburg.
When asked about their audition, the couple stated that they were not nervous at all and that they were extremely excited and ecstatic when they found out that they would be contestants on the show.
When asked about their favourite dish, Azraa answered, “Curry, literally any curry, is our favourite dish to prepare. We adore curry and enjoy eating spicy foods, and we grew up eating it at least twice a week in both of our homes.”
