Two killed, one injured in Weltevreden Park accident
Paramedics assessed the scene; two patients were declared dead, and one treated for minor injuries.
Last night, October 6, two people were killed and another injured following a three-vehicle collision on the N1 highway near the Beyers Naudé offramp in Weltevreden Park.
According to Russell Meiring, ER24 spokesperson, ER24 and other services arrived at 21:05 and found one wrecked vehicle on the embankment. Two other vehicles had come to a stop a short distance away.
Meiring said, “On closer inspection, medics found a man lying in the fast lane while another man was found lying trapped inside the vehicle on the embankment. Paramedics assessed the patients; sadly both had already succumbed to their numerous injuries. Nothing could be done for them, and they were declared dead on scene. A third man who sustained minor injuries was treated and transported to a nearby hospital.”
The cause of the accident is unknown, but local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
