Life Wilgeheuwel welcomes new addition to their team
Life Wilgeheuwel Hospital welcomes new doctor into their Obstetrics and Gynaecology unit.
Life Wilgeheuwel Hospital is happy to welcome Dr Mike Storm to its group of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.
Dr Storm completed his undergraduate training with distinction at Wits University in 2012 and his internship at Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital from 2013 to 2014.
Dr Storm’s passion for travel and seeing the world influenced his decision to work as a senior doctor on international cruise lines for two years and was fortunate enough to visit 60 countries around the world. He then conceived his son via surrogacy and in vitro fertilisation, therefore, having personally experienced what some couples, unfortunately, have to endure when they have fertility issues. His true passion then led him back to complete his registrar training in obstetrics and gynaecology in the Wits circuit.
Dr Storm explained that he chose his specialty because ‘Obstetrics and Gynaecology is very rewarding’.
“Your patients are usually well and when they require care their condition is normally treatable.”
He has been in this field for approximately five years and chose Life Wilgeheuwel Hospital because of his longstanding working relationship with the hospital due to his background in emergency medicine and finds the patients and hospital staff to be like a close community, ‘it feels like home’.
“Plan your pregnancy three months in advance and get a pap smear,” he advises his future patients.
When he’s not working, he is travelling.
“At my most relaxed I would be by the ocean, on the beach, just watching and listening to the waves.”
Something people might not know about him is that he is extremely claustrophobic and his friends describe him as an intense care bear.
