SSOP launches community WhatsApp groups
Roodepoort residents and businesses are urged to join the SSOP Community Crime WhatsApp groups.
Sector Specialised Operations Patrollers (SSOP) have achieved some remarkable successes in their short time of activity.
Working closely with law enforcement agencies and other CPF structures, the patroller group’s latest activities include a 10-hour operation on March 7 that included veld searches and clearing, stop-and-search operations and street patrols. In addition, they attended to numerous complaints regarding vagrancy.

They also assisted at various alcohol-related incidents, and took part in a successful targeted operation with Roodepoort police against a known gang, after receiving a tip-off.
According to SSOP patrol captain Leon Marinus, they launched another initiative to streamline communication with the communities they serve.
“We have officially launched our SSOP community WhatsApp groups, which will make our communication efforts much more effective.
“We can keep our communities abreast of all relevant news regarding our activities, crime trends, and initiatives. Residents can also communicate directly with us more easily.”

SSOP has launched two groups under the banner of SSOP Community Crime Groups, namely the SSOP Roodepoort Residents group, and the SSOP Roodepoort Business group.
“We’re inviting residents and businesses to join the relevant groups, so that as a community, we can tackle crime together by staying on top of trends.
“It also allows people to report crime-related concerns, stay informed about security updates, and connect directly with SSOP.”
