Brace for Roodepoort water outage

Johannesburg Water has announced that the Eikenhof pump station, which supplies large areas of Roodepoort, is pumping at a reduced flow, which may result in widespread water outages.

According to a statement released by the entity, this is due to an ongoing power outage at the Emfuleni substation, which feeds the Rand Water Vereeniging Treatment Works.

Several Roodepoort reservoirs are already under pressure, with both the Helderkruin and Constantia reservoirs currently exceeding demand.

The entity has not given any information on when the situation is expected to be resolved, thus residents are urged to use water sparingly.
