#WestRandWaterWatch: Planned water maintenance progress on track
The first day of Rand Water’s planned maintenance has been completed, and the utility has since shared a progress update via its official social media platforms.
Rand Water announced on its Facebook page its progress regarding its planned maintenance, which commenced on Monday, June 30, at 05:00.
By Monday evening, Rand Water said they had completed step 1 (isolating the valves) of the maintenance process at the Zwartkopjes Station. At the same time, they have also completed step 1 of the Zuikerbosch leak repair.

Before maintenance began, their teams isolated and closed massive valves – a labour-intensive task that can require a lot of resources. Once isolated, they will scour the pipelines to remove any remaining water, ensuring a dry and ventilated environment for safe working conditions. This critical process can take several hours.

This affects the City of Johannesburg, Mogale City Local Municipality, Rand West City Local Municipality and mines and industries.
