JW’s mess remains on street for months, causing traffic disruptions

Witpoortjie residents raise concerns on unfilled holes and concrete left by Johannesburg Water on Buuren Street.

Piles of concrete, multiple holes and leftover pipes are still lying unattended on Buuren Street after Johannesburg Water (JW) fixed a leaking pipe and drainage system about three months ago.

According to resident Willem Grundling, who resides at number five, the issue was reported numerous times to JW, but they failed to respond.

“Motorists are currently using one lane. Fortunately, no accident has occurred,” he said.

Moreover, Grundling highlighted that the holes were left with water accumulating right in front of a resident’s house, and the street name sign was removed during the process, with no one returning to repaint it.

JW’s communications officer Nolwazi Dhlamini stated that the Johannesburg Water team will attend to the matter before the end of this week (Sunday, July 6).
