Planned Rand Water maintenance to affect suburbs in Roodepoort

Residents are urged to store water ahead of a planned 52-hour shutdown affecting Fleurhof, Georginia, Hamberg and more suburbs.

The Eikenhof supply system will undergo maintenance by Rand Water between January 6 and 7.

According to a statement shared by Johannesburg Water, this is expected to leave residents in a few parts of Roodepoort without water for about 52 hours, and once maintenance is completed, it will take between three to five days for recovery.

Suburbs in the Roodepoort Deep Reservoir that will be affected include:

• Hamberg
• Rand Leases (all extensions)
• Discovery Ext 9
• Georginia
• Cresswell Park
• Davidsonville
• Princess
• Witpoortjie
• Matholesville
• Florida
• Roodepoort CBD
• Fleurhof (all extensions)
• Lea Glen

Residents are advised to harvest rainwater where possible, and businesses must ensure there’s adequate on-site storage.
