Florida Park High School Class of 1962 has 60 year reunion
Roughly 30 classmates and a special guest teacher meet at Little Tuscany Boutique Hotel.
With friends and family spread across the globe, remaining classmates returned to share the memories of yesteryear.
The Florida Park High School Class of 1962 held their 60 year reunion at Little Tuscany Boutique Hotel in Bryanston on September 17. Many still live around Johannesburg and the West Rand while other made the journey from coastal retreats and even as far as Europe to share an afternoon with old friends.
Jeremy Dennehy, Derrick Voigt, Clifford Laidlaw, Nico Loggenberg as well as one of their then teachers, Mr. Stephen Kempen, took the roles of organisers as almost 30 pupils of the 128 member class were in attendance. David Hunter and Dawn van Heerden, nee Jose, were the Head Boy and Head Girl of their class but sadly due to ill health were not able to attend what was described as a happy event. Classmate, Freda Voigt, remarked, “despite the number of years that have passed, the event was well attended and a pleasant afternoon was had by all reminiscing with classmates from bygone years”.
