Fun in the sun on Braai Day

If family members were not intrigued by the variety of foods, stalls and crafts on offer, the free train rides and jumping castles certainly caught their attention.

The Discovery Community Forum (DCF) hosted their fourth annual Family Fun Day at the Len Rutter Train Park.

Although the event was halted for the past two years due to Covid restrictions, DCF Chairperson, Justin Bezuidenhout was excited to unite the community through such an event once again. The event took place on Heritage Day, September 24.

“We wanted the community to meet the forum committee and each other as neighbours. The aim of the event was just for everyone to enjoy a fun day out with the family,” he said.

If family members were not intrigued by the variety of foods, stalls and crafts on offer, the free train rides and jumping castles certainly caught their attention.

“It was special as we had a very good response from the community. There were numerous vendor stalls for the community to choose from. Although there was great entertainment for the little ones, the highlight had to be the free mini train rides for the kids and adults alike. This was also to support the Rand Society of Model Engineers,” Justin said.

He is ecstatic to announce that the day had been a huge success and great fun was had by all. Justin would also like to extend a special thanks to EC Security – their security partner of the day who provided car guards, overall security and contributed to a crimeless event.

“This day is an entirely non-profit day for the DCF and our aim to bring our community together for a lovely family outing and to meet the neighbours was achieved. Thank you to everyone who contributed to the success of the day,” he concluded.
