Knights and noblemen clash with honour at exhibition of medieval combat

Greensleeves Medieval Kingdom host fundraiser for JuggerKnights.

The knights of the realm smashed shield, sword and armour for the merriment of the gathered hordes.

JuggerKnights full contact medieval combat club held an exhibition of noble battle at Greensleeves Medieval Kingdom on October 8. Working to board a caravel to Spain in 2023, the rumbles inside the list begged for the throwing of gold and silver coin that may make their journey northwards that much lighter.

Hosted in conjunction with Alteregos, the fundraising event was everything fans of the eccentric alternative spectaculars have come to love. Apart from the clang of metal on metal, an array of fittingly themed stalls kept the peasantry entertained with ample hot meat served on sticks and bones, liquid amber pouring forth into plastic gauntlets and a jester in stockades to paint red with tomato produce.

When not fighting each other, the public were able to climb between the wooden ropes to ‘fight a knight’. Here, the weight on the helmet, shield and sword could be fully demonstrated. JuggerKinghts’s Karl Smit, showed his appreciation to the attendees, “… thank you everyone for showing your support today and thanks to the Alteregos team for helping us put this together. This is a passion for us and anything that helps us get closer to our goal is more valued than you can imagine.”.
