The spirit of Bavaria brought to life at Ruimsig Country Club
Coppa Bar and Jessica's Restaurant hold inaugural beerfest
What would October be without raising a glass in celebration of the amber nectar?
Beer lovers and party animals filled the terraces for a few pints with a scenic view on October 22. Hosted by Jessica’s Restaurant in conjunction with Ruimsig Country Club, the inaugural celebration of beer, food and friendship raised the roof of Coppa Bar.
Staff and patrons were enthusiastic in embracing the look and feel of Germany. The men were dashing in their lederhosen and suspenders while the women were striking in a variety of coloured traditional dirndl.
As well as the assortment of beers and sausage and kraut hot dogs, there were a variety of activities to keep wanderers amused. Karl Otten and Gerhard Grobler from Pam Golding Properties kept the competitive spirits high with their modern take on beer-themed fun. The pair set up a beer pong table that challenged the accuracy of the the increasingly festive revelers.
No festival would be complete without a fitting rhythm filling the spaces between casual conversations. The role of Oompah band was played by the transformative qualities of ‘South Africa’s most multifaceted cover band’, Obsession. Led by Michael Fresh, they engaged the crowd with catchy tunes and lively performances, doing so while brilliantly dressed in their Bavarian finest.
The organising committee was headed up by Coppa Bar’s Ziska Haak, whose smile grew wider as the patrons flowed in. Happy with the turnout for their first ever beerfest, she commented, “Thank you to everyone involved in making this possible. To everyone who enjoyed the beer, food and atmosphere, it would not have been a success without you”.
