Traffic comes to a halt as suspected house robbers are nabbed in Wilro Park

According to EC Security the suspects are linked to multiple cases in the Roodekrans and Discovery areas.

On Wednesday, November 30, the Record received reports of an active crime scene where four suspects were arrested in Wilro Park after they allegedly broke into several properties.

Motorists were advised to avoid the corner of CR Swart Road and Mimosa Street as all roads were congested as a result of the crime scene.

Items believed to be stolen by the suspects were recovered after they were stopped in their tracks.

Reports indicate that the known house robbers were spotted by one of EC Security Reaction Officers in Belladonna Road, Roodekrans.

As soon as the robbers noticed the EC Security Reaction vehicle, they sped off and a chase ensued with patrollers and other security companies being notified via the Roodekrans Neighbourhood Watch (RNW) block watch radio.

The suspects drove into a civilian’s vehicle on the corner of Mimosa Street and CR Swart Road before they were apprehended.

According to EC Security the suspects are linked to multiple cases in the Roodekrans and Discovery areas.

House breaking implements were recovered as well as stolen goods and false number plates were also found in the vehicle.

Roodepoort Police Station’s Communication Officer, Captain Juanita Yorke confirmed that the suspects have been detained at the station and will appear at the Roodepoort Magistrate’s Court on Friday, December 2.
