Roodepoort police carry out raids of two high schools within the precinct
Marijuana, alcohol and cigarettes among items confiscated by police.
Various policing units conducted raids of two schools within the Roodepoort police precinct.
The search of the two high schools is part of Roodepoort police’s school safety and search intervention programme. Roodepoort’s Social Crime Prevention (SCP) unit, sector managers, the West Rand K9 unit, Community Policing Forum and members from Johannesburg Metro Police Department carried out the operation on May 23.
Between the two schools, authorities searched approximately 1 200 learners. Various contraband items were seized such as marijuana, rolling papers, crushers, vapes, cigarettes, scissors that were not standard issue and alcohol. A stern warning was issued by Sergeant Shimukazi Mbuli from SCP to all scholars to stop carrying such illicit items at school and to rather concentrate on their education.
The police in Roodepoort will continue to eradicate crime and criminality in the policing precinct with a zero-tolerance approach.
The confiscated goods were booked in at Roodepoort police station for destruction and the necessary steps will be taken by the relevant departments within the schools. Anyone who has information for the police can contact Crime Stop anonymously at 08600 10111 or report by utilising the MySAPS app on their cellular phones.
