High school learner writes poem in honour of Youth Day

Nkazimulo Hlongwane, a high school learner, wrote a poem for Youth Day titled ‘The Change Makers’:

From generation to generation

Constantly searching for a destination

We fight and run

Towards the hot and warm sun

In a land full of diversity

Challenging people with our integrity

Sharing stories of our revolution

Constantly trying to find better solutions

A country so vast in cultures

We combine them to build better futures

Ones with dreams and hopes

Tying them together with ropes

Holding each other together

Making a mark that’ll last forever

For the world to know who we are

So they don’t have to search very far

And witness the adrenaline rush

Of telling the stories of those before us
