Countless lives saved as Jim makes his 200th donation
Imagine the change a person can make to another's life by donating blood once. Now imagine the change that is possible with 200 donations.
Around 600 lives have been saved due to one man’s donations. Jim de Beer donated blood for the 200th time on June 23.
“Life is like a bank account, you can’t just take out, you have to put in as well,” said Jim about why he believes in this cause.

He explained that it all started when SANBS came around to his workplace, he donated blood and just never stopped, and even after he has given his 200th donation, he stated he wants to continue giving blood.
To prospective donors, he said, “If you can, you must, because it costs you nothing. And you are doing something good for somebody else and good will always come back to you. I am still alive.
“If you go through a day in your life without doing something for somebody else, you’ve actually wasted a day in your life,” Jim concluded.
