The best young soccer players from Roodepoort and surrounds have a fresh look for their prestigious adventure.

Constantia Kloof Primary School held a presentation ceremony on June 21 to hand over the kits to the boys and girls teams aiming for national glory. The West Rand Primary Schools Football Association (WRPSFA) will be sending two teams to the renowned Bill Stewart and Fran Hilton-Smith Interprovincial U13 soccer tournament.

Teams will travel to Camp Discovery at the Dinokeng Game Reserve to duel in a round-robin tournament from June 30 to July 4. Head coach and facilitator Dion Moyce is hoping for a successful tournament after his boy’s team just missed out the year before. This is the 50th edition of the tournament and fingers are crossed for another medal to add to last year’s bronze, the first for WRPSFA in 20 years.

Dion enlisted the services of guest speaker Ricardo Katza. The former Bafana Bafana player represented his country 19 times, wearing the captain’s armband on eight occasions. Hoping the star power will propel his players forward, Dion said, “Ricardo is a superb motivational speaker who spoke great words to the minds of the players and I hope they take it to heart.”
