Help Donelle go to Ireland

Local star needs help fulfilling his dream.

To accomplish his dream, Donelle needs funding to go to Ireland.

Donelle Bailey, a learner at Hoërskool Roodepoort, has been chosen to tour Ireland after participating in the Blikkies Groenewald Rugby Tournament. The tour is set to take place from December 2 to 11, where all the boys will be trained by top coaches as well as be exposed to a higher level of rugby, explained Donelle’s father, Andre Bailey.

“We are very excited about him being chosen to represent South Africa in a rugby tour, he is only 16 and has been chosen to play U19 which is a great achievement for him and us as a family, He is a natural when it comes to sports, he is a hard worker and has the desire to be successful one day he is aiming to play professionally and to make it as a springbok one day. What also contributes to his success is that I push him and direct him as his father, I am very hard on him to make it in life and to be successful,” said Andre.

He stated that Donelle has been playing rugby since 2022 and was a member of the athletic team; he is also learning how to box. He went on to explain that Donelle is excited about sports in general and excels in all of the sports in which he participates.

“The undertaking is massive and the overall cost we as a family must raise is R47k – this is inclusive of accommodation, flights, meals, kits, and training clinics. As a family, we are embarking on different fundraising initiatives to raise the capital. Your generous contribution will help us to make this possible and allow this young rugby prodigy to get exposure at the highest level and fulfill his dreams of one day playing for our national team, the Springboks,” Andre concluded.

Any person wanting to donate to Donelle’s trip can contact Andre on 084 775 7288.
