Daughter’s plea to visit her dying father in Wilgeheuwel one last time

Anthony Lansdell has been informed he had three to six months to live. His daughter is appealing for assistance in seeing him and for him to see his only grandchild for the first time before it's too late.

Courtney Strickland has put out a plea for support after her father, Anthony Landsdell who lives in Wilgeheuwel, was told he only had three to six months left to live. Courtney and her four-and-a-half-month-old daughter, Miley, are currently residing in Newcastle, United Kingdom after Courtney moved there in November 2020.

“I am trying to raise funds so that my husband and I can bring my daughter to meet her grandfather before it is too late,” explained Courtney, as she continued by saying as much as this would help her find closure seeing her father one last time, she wants him and Miley to have met as well – as this will mean the world to Anthony.

According to Courtney, her father had a small growth on his chest which, when inspected by a doctor, turned out to be a melanoma.

“Since being diagnosed it has just gotten worse over the last few weeks, the little growth turned into a massive growth that took over the whole side of his chest,” Courtney elaborated, adding that he was entered into a trial treatment which they’ve just found out hasn’t worked.

“This was when they said he has three to six months to live as it had spread to his liver, right shoulder, and bones,” she stated.

“I need £2500 to buy tickets for my husband and me, as I’m way too scared to travel alone with my four-and-a-half-month-old baby girl, and ticket prices for August are really expensive!

“It’s not so much as what it would mean to me but I want my child to be able to meet her granddad even if she won’t remember it. I’d like to get a photo for her to keep as a memory. It is also my dad’s first grandchild and it would mean the absolute world to him if he could meet his only grandchild before it’s too late. I struggle with anxiety and if I didn’t get to say my goodbyes I would never have closure.”
