Protest in Delarey ensue due to power issues

Residents of Delarey protest after struggling without power for around two weeks.

Residents protested to express their annoyance with the lack of power in their area.

Farhaad Sardiwalla from the Florida CPF explained residents were burning tires and stoning cars last night (26 September) out of frustration for struggling without power.

Chantelle Fourie-Shawe, the Ward 86 councillor, stated, “I’m aware of the protest on Millward Road due to power being off for 13 days. I spoke to the depot manager who said the mini-substation is next on the list to receive a replacement as soon as one becomes available.”

She continued to say unfortunately the sourcing of a new mini substation can take up to two weeks, further City Power does not have a working generator.

This is a developing story and more updates will be published as they become available.
