Florida Park High School choir impresses at Talent Africa

The singers are headed to America next year to showcase their talents.

Florida Park High School’s choir won the diamond award at Talent Africa.

Wendy Ratsedi, the choir co-ordinator explained they took part in the Randfontein Arts and Culture Association (Raca) Eisteddfod on October 5. She explained they found out they were allowed to enter either as a solo, duet, or quartet. They then decided to enter as a quartet to do something different. They received a Diamond Certificate, which means they accomplished 95% and above.

This qualified them to take part in Talent Africa, which is on a national level. Talent Africa took place on October 8 in Sasolburg, where they once again received a Diamond Certificate. They also received the first prize for the Best Senior Group.

This achievement meant they qualified to compete internationally. They are set to take part in the competition in New York next year in June and July. Wendy explained they need some help with the funding to go to America. She noted they need funds for six children and the two educators to go with them. They are currently busy with a raffle to raise funds and they’ve created a BackaBuddy account where people can support them. They are also having a concert with celebrity performers to raise funds, the date is however not set yet.

They are asking the community’s help for the children to achieve their dreams.
