With the year behind us let’s see what 2024 will bring

‘Tis the season to be jolly … or so they say?

Please allow me this opportunity to reflect a little on this past year … what a year it has been! In the beginning, I walked into the Roodepoort Record/ Northsider office having just graduated. With little experience yet a determination to make a difference. In all honesty, I have learnt so much from the community I serve and cannot wait to see what the new year holds.

With your help, I like to believe that we can do great things in this community. One thing I am going to take away from this year is that there are indeed a lot of stories to be told. I want the community to know that that is exactly what I intend to do in 2024.

Before I jump the gun too much, I want to thank every member of the community for welcoming me into this fold and for allowing me to tell your stories. Realising that so many of our readers need our help, I often feel like there is not much more that I can do, however, receiving positive feedback greatly justifies our efforts, which fills my heart with so much joy. It gives me the strength to continue doing what I love. It has been a true honour.

I look forward to telling your stories once again next year – whether it will make someone sad, mad or glad.
