Zane Meas excited about new Afrikaans movie

Frankie & Felipé is a feel-good movie with a strong message for everyone.

Many South Africans have come to know and love the television and movie characters portrayed by Zane Meas, and with the release of the new Afrikaans movie, Frankie & Felipé on February 23, he will also be visiting cinema audiences.

Zane’s character in the movie is Bernerd Fortuin, the love interest in the movie, Kim Fortuin’s (portrayed by Kim Syster) father.

“It was a very fun role. It is a comedy, a love story, and my character comes across as a bit of a fumbling, love-struck person. He is madly in love with his wife, but fumbles it a bit and has to ask Felipé for advice, with some hilarious consequences,” Zane said smiling.

He added that he did not have to try out for the role, as Solomon Cupido and Bradley Olivier wrote the role specifically for him.

“I was approached by Solomon and Bradley, who I have known for many years, and they told me they were writing a part for me in the movie, which was so sweet of them. I have been part of their lives for quite several years, and have seen them grow and develop, and it was nice for me to be part of this project.”

Zane added that he enjoyed the camaraderie, the team spirit and the ensemble.

“We had some nice scenes around the table with almost the entire cast and we could have a sense of family and the sense of being together. It is such a feel-good film, and we haven’t had such a nice, feel-good Afrikaans film in a while.

“And that is the main reason why I believe people should go see this movie, is because it will make you feel good. You will laugh a little, cry a bit and just feel good. So, take your significant other, you won’t regret it.”

He said, even though the movie is a huge success, he does feel sad that Bradley is no longer with them, “Everything we do, is a tribute to Bradley; it was part of his vision. I have so much respect for Solomon who carried the torch, kept his chin up and was happy about the success of this movie, as it received very good reviews.”

Zane concluded by urging everyone to go see the movie.

“If you’d like to see something that lifts the mood, with load-shedding, and petrol prices going up and all of that, then go see this movie.”
