Journey to fight cancer with Cancervive

Together, they are creating awareness, breaking barriers and sharing hope.

Cancervive is a South African organisation committed to creating impactful cancer awareness and educating communities about cancer as a disease.

Jackie Ludick is one of the supporters of the organisation and her work with Cancervive is deeply personal. Having lost her father, brother, godmother, and life partner to cancer, Jackie is committed to raising awareness and promoting early detection to save lives. As a supporter, she participates in Cancervive’s unique approach, using motorcycle rides to draw attention to their educational events across South Africa.

Each year, Cancervive selects a team of survivors and supporters to spread crucial information on cancer prevention. Jackie, now in her fifth year with Cancervive, aims to raise R30 000 to support EduShows held at company wellness days, community events, and corporate gatherings. Through these shows, Cancervive dispels myths, educates people on “shy” cancers, and provides essential resources, even launching the Thuto app to answer questions in multiple languages.

Jackie fundraises by hosting craft events, selling handmade jewellery, and inviting community support. Donations, toiletries, blankets, and other items for goody bags bring comfort to patients in hospitals and oncology centres.

Jackie’s message is simple, “Early detection can save lives. You are not alone.”
