Christmas miracle: Baby Jake arrives on Christmas morning

Nicole and JJ Steyn received the ultimate Christmas gift when their baby boy was born on Christmas Day.

The Steyn family received the best Christmas gift when their baby, Jake Michael Steyn, arrived in the world.

According to the parents of baby Jake, Nicole and JJ Steyn, their due date was December 27, and they knew he could come anytime, just not Christmas Day.

“We had both just finished up work for the year and started to relax on Christmas Eve when I went into labour at 19:30.

“We went to Life Flora hospital to get checked at 22:00, and when the nurse confirmed that I was, in fact, in labour, we realised that we’d be receiving the best little gift on Christmas.

“After eight hours of labour, we went into the theatre for an emergency C-section as Jake was a little bigger than we expected. At 03:54 on Christmas morning we welcomed our little boy into the world,” says Nicole.

“As Christians, we think it’s very special that he shares a birthday with Jesus, and we hope that as he grows up, he will see it as a special connection to our faith,” they add.

When asked about their pregnancy journey, Nicole described it as ‘very positive and easy’.

She experienced no major symptoms and was able to continue working and exercising throughout the nine months.

“The only challenge I faced was dealing with the December heatwaves in the last few weeks,” she adds.

The new parents admitted to feeling ‘excited, happy, and a little overwhelmed’ by the journey ahead but are thrilled to welcome their little Christmas miracle.
