Student treats shelter kids to fun

With laughter, surprises and a much-needed break from daily struggles, the kids enjoyed themselves as they happily jumped around all over the place.

Children from the Wings of Inspiration shelter had an unforgettable day of fun at iJump on February 12, thanks to the kindness of Ruan Pretorius, a cyber security student with a heart for giving back.

Ruan personally arranged and sponsored the outing, ensuring the children enjoyed a full day of excitement, surprises, and carefree play.
“I believe all children should have a chance in life, and that includes happiness,” he said.

Wings of Inspiration provides shelter and support for vulnerable children and their mothers. The outing to the trampoline arena filled with adventure, gave them a rare opportunity to simply enjoy being kids.

The Wings of Inspiration centre manager, Heidi Harms, expressed heartfelt gratitude.

“We want to say thank you to Ruan for bringing our children here, spoiling them, and sponsoring the day. We are in desperate need of nonperishable food like canned beans, canned fish and poultry, fruits, pasta just to name a few, clothing, and any kind of donations,” Heidi said.

Ruan hopes that by highlighting the organisation’s work, more people will be inspired to support it.

“This was about giving them a day to just be kids – to forget their worries and simply have fun,” he concluded.

The day served as a reminder that small acts of kindness can create lasting joy and that community support can make a meaningful difference in the lives of those in need. To find out more about the organisation or donate, contact Heidi on 079 853 1619.
