Doctor pens a powerful guide for South African teenagers

Dr Monica Nkabinde's book aims to empower teenagers to make informed choices and unlock their full potential.

Medical doctor and specialist obstetrician and gynaecologist, Dr Monica Fakazile Benzile Nkabinde, has published and launched her book titled Choose Well Choose Life: A Guide To A Purpose-Filled Life for South African Teenagers.

This book is a powerful tool aimed at providing teenagers with strong life skills and the knowledge they need to navigate the challenges of adolescence and make informed decisions about their lives.

Born and bred in KZN, Dr Nkabinde has always been an avid reader and is still a bookworm. She completed her studies at the University of KwaZulu-Natal and is a mother of five grown-up children, four sons and one daughter, including two sets of twins.

She has dedicated 34 years of her life to the healthcare of women and has a special interest in pregnancy and childbirth. During an interview with the Roodepoort Record, she said helping to deliver God’s greatest gift to mankind safely into the world has been the greatest blessing and joy of her life.

“I have always had a passion for teenagers and had a strong need of wanting to help them with their problems. Working as a gynaecologist, patients have asked me to speak to their teenage daughters when what used to be their bundle of joy starts going off the rails.

She says this book addresses this crucial need for information and guidance from a medical, cultural, and religious perspective.
“It aims to assist young people as they delicately weave through the information clutter, helping them to make better choices and unlock God’s purpose for their lives. It is in our country’s interest that we bring up well-grounded children.”

Dr Nkabinde believes that teenage years are the most crucial of an individual, and through this book, she hopes parents can also be transparent and be involved in their children’s lives.

“I have also written this book in such a way that it opens lines of communication between parents and children about life issues affecting teenagers.

“Through this book, I hope and pray that it will help young people to make good choices, unlock the dreams God has for them, and claim the future which they deserve,” she concluded.

The book is available for sale on Amazon, Takealot, and Draft2Draft and can be ordered through her website www.drbmfnkabinde.com or WhatsApp 076 421 9522.
