Horizon centre serves grocery packs and soup for Mandela Day

67 Minutes of kindness: Centre partners with local businesses to support vulnerable elderly and families in need.

Mandela Day is a global movement honouring Nelson Mandela’s legacy by encouraging individuals and businesses to dedicate 67 minutes of their time to give back to the community and make a positive impact in the world.

Under the banner ‘Keeping the Spirit of Madiba on the Horizon’, Horizon Shopping Centre partnered with two impactful organisations, Wings of Inspiration and Nosh Food Rescue, to support vulnerable elderly individuals and their families.

The centre provided grocery packs and soup (provided by Nosh) to families of the elderly at Wings of Inspiration and to individuals of the greater community of Roodepoort. Others were coming from the Krugersdorp Centre for Care of the Aged, Khayalethu, 4given, and Evolving Butterflies.

The centre’s marketing manager, Unathi Tyali, said, “For us, Nelson Mandela Day is about keeping people’s hope alive and making a difference one person at a time touches us, and we want to continue as Horizon,” she said.
