Church invites community for a career expo day
This event on August 2 is designed to empower youth and community members with career opportunities and insights.
The West Rand Lutheran Community Church is inviting Grade Eight to 12 learners, young adults and general members of the public to an exciting Career Expo Day, set to take place on August 2 at the church.
According to committee members of the Ladies Ministry, Busisiwe Mabalane, Deovalent Leotlela, and Thandeka Mwandiambira, they’ve been running the Career Expo since 2024, and it’s part of their Women’s Month initiative of giving back to the community.
“We are expecting guest speakers in aviation, civil engineering, law, environmental specialists, music/ media space, and TVET College Westcol. There will also be individuals from the artificial intelligence, technology, and science industry,” they said.
The women say they will also be giving away formal clothes to young adults who are in the job-hunting stage for their interviews. There will also be panel discussions, allowing learners to have first-hand experience and ask questions to the experts.
There will be stalls all around, with the Department of Home Affairs present for first-time ID applicants, and Standard Bank for first-time bankers.
