Discovery Community Forum patrollers gear up for the festive season

Discovery patrollers strategise for upcoming initiatives.

Patrollers of the Discovery Community Forum hosted a gathering on October 18 to strategise and co-ordinate efforts to combat crime during the upcoming festive season.

The team, comprising 18 active patrollers, discussed ways to increase visibility and encourage more residents to get involved in community safety initiatives.

Key focus areas included building relationships with security officials and the police, as well as upcoming training sessions to equip patrollers with the necessary skills to effectively support the community. The meeting was followed by a social gathering, complete with a boerewors meal and snacks.

According to Dan McNeil, patrol captain, the gathering was an opportunity for the team to come together and plan for the months ahead.

“Over the years, the team has been the eyes and ears of the community, helping with crime reporting, dealing with entities, and escalating matters,” he said.

The patrollers’ efforts have been instrumental in keeping the community safe, and their continued involvement is crucial in making Discovery a secure place to live.
