Community spirit shines at Weltevreden bazaar

Local runners laced up for an annual bazaar in Weltevreden Park.

The NG Church Weltevreden Park, in collaboration with Run/ Walk for Life, hosted their annual bazaar in Cornelius Street on Saturday, May 30.

According to Run/ Walk for Life member Linda Cloete, the bazaar highlights the perseverance and loyalty through a 5km fun run and walk that brought together residents, families, and even their pets.

The event was organised as part of the church’s annual fundraising bazaar. Participants gathered outside the church before setting off on the route through the neighbourhood.

Run/ Walk for Life Weltevreden Park assisted with registrations and provided marshals along the route to ensure the safety and smooth running of the event.

Organisers also set up water points for participants along the course. At the finish line, dogs were rewarded with special treats, while human participants received commemorative medals and bottles of water.

“Participants and visitors enjoyed the festive atmosphere of the bazaar, where a variety of delicious food, baked goods, and other treats were on offer,” said Linda.

The successful event once again highlighted the strong community spirit of Weltevreden Park, providing an opportunity for residents to enjoy outdoor exercise, fellowship, and a morning of family-friendly fun while supporting the bazaar.
