This year, the club has welcomed several new faces, increasing the club’s numbers to more than a 100 members. As one of the biggest clubs in the West Rand, Roodies runners participate in various athletic races over the season. Their star athlete, Maylah Pieterse, is hard at work, training for the upcoming Old Mutual Om Die Dam Ultra-Marathon. She will be aiming to finish a record 28th consecutive race which will put her in an elite section of the historic race. The club’s members are also working hard to make sure they are in top shape for the Comrades Marathon taking place in the first week in June. The club will be sending almost a hundred runners to the event and will be hoping to build on last year’s success.
