Vikings still remember

Vikings still remember

“He may have left us but he will not be forgotten,” is how Witpoortjie Vikings Amateur Boxing Club expressed itself as the memorial plaque for young boxer JC van Loggerenberg was hung on the wall.

The 13-year-old made headlines in December, when he died after falling out of a moving railway carriage on his way to fetch his school report. Club coach, Phillip du Rand said JC was and always will be a Viking who is still sorely missed.

“It was a difficult time for us, and it still feels like our hearts have been ripped out of our bodies. So the club decided to do something that will always remind us of him,” he said.

The coach added that he would like to express his heartfelt gratitude to everyone who supported JC’s family during the difficult times.
