Grinding the Gravel for a good cause

All members of the community are welcome to come and join the race on 19 April

The exciting 20th annual challenge, The Wilro Lions Gravel Grinder, previously known as The Wilro Lions Cycle Challenge (WLCC), will take place on 19 April at the Tarlton International Raceway.

Due to the poor condition of the roads as well as the heavy traffic that has made it more dangerous, the decision was made last year to change the cycle race to a much safer gravel route. Cyclists will have the opportunity to join in on the 95km, or the 55km race. Cyclists can expect the new route to be something totally different, but will still be enjoyable for all participants.

“All members of the community are welcome to join the race. The money raised from our Annual Cycle Race will enable us to perhaps sponsor another Guide Dog for the Blind or Service Dog for a child with Autism, also to provide Comfort Kits for Kids with Cancer and continue supporting our feeding scheme, and providing a bursary for a deserving student, enabling him or her to study further and improve his or her life. Sometimes it’s just a random act of kindness that also makes a difference – we believe that kindness matters!” Sandy van Heerden, Public Relations Officer for the Lions Club of Wilro Park, concluded.
