Roodepoort kickboxer slams SA Muay Thai champ and takes title
The Triple Threat Dojo kickboxer stunned the South African Muay Thai Champion in a breakthrough victory.
Kickboxer Chloe Assad slammed the World Muay Thai Organisation (WMO) South African champion in a thrilling contest held at the Walter Sisulu Sports Complex in Randburg on Saturday, July 25.
According to her coach Wade Rendall, the victory was even more impressive considering that the bout was only her third Muay Thai fight. Standing across from her was a highly experienced opponent with championship credentials, but she showed confidence, skill and composure well beyond her experience in the sport.
“From the opening bell, both fighters delivered a display of high-level Muay Thai, showcasing technical ability, strength and determination. The three-round battle featured sharp combinations, powerful exchanges and tactical skill as both athletes pushed themselves to the limit,” he said.
After three intense rounds, the judges awarded the victory to Assad, crowning her the winner in a significant moment for her young fighting career.
Assad, who is also a silver medallist at the World Kickboxing Union (WKU) World Championships, continues to prove that she can compete against some of the most experienced fighters in the country. Her performance against a reigning champion highlighted not only her technical ability but also her exceptional mental toughness and resilience.
