Danger to be covered soon

Sidewalk to be made safe

The sidewalk of McGrath Avenue in Witpoortjie will soon be safe for the pedestrians using it.

It came to the attention of the Record that there was an open manhole near the park and Princess Primary School.

On closer inspection it was found that this was quite a deep hole that had been without a cover for quite some time, judging by the amount of rubbish at the bottom.

Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA) was contacted and asked for comment.

Bertha Scheepers, spokesperson for JRA said, “Safety of road users is a primary concern, therefore the JRA will ensure the open manhole is secured for pedestrians by 12 September.”
