Annual Festival of Fame
This year the annual Festival of Fame has a jam-packed programme headed by the musical “Sweet Charity” at the Joburg Theatre with guest star Christopher Jaftha, last seen in “Aladdin” as the suave Italian movie star.
The rest of the roles, naturally, are taken by the talented youngsters of the school – the “triple threats (music, dance and drama), with professionals Mark Hawkins and Janna Ramos-Violante at the helm.
The dance students are putting on “Dance Spectrum”, the music students are singing “Freedom Songs” and the drama students are staging “The Bald Prima Donna” and “I Stand Before You Naked”.
Other top performers (some of them NSA alumni) are also featured, including Jenine Collocot directing “Commedia Hamlet”, Daniel Buckland directing “Lake”, Princess Mhlongo with “Clown for Hire” and Matthew Ribnick in “The Chilli Boy”, plus Moving in Dance Mophatong with Sylvia Glasser’s “Tranceformations”.
Art, of course, is not forgotten with exhibitions at the NSA Gallery.
